The Saint Lawrence river, Montreal, Canada
The Saint Lawrence river flows through Montreal, and in summer, one of the more picturesque sections is transformed into a sandy beach. Sadly, swimming isn't allowed due to the strong currents, but there are regular events, from wine evenings to music festivals. There's also a second beach just a short walk away in Parc Jean-Drapeau , where visitors can rent canoes, pedalos and kayaks.
