Berlin, Germany.
The Rhine, Europe
The Rhine starts in the Eastern Swiss Alps and drains into the North Sea in the Netherlands. It has a total length of 766 miles (1233 km). A cruise along the Rhine is a must for budding historians - this historic river has served as a defensive structure at various times and formed, along with the Danube, the Northern frontier of the Roman Empire. Hundreds of castles and fortifications dot the banks of the river, with many originally being built to allow authorities to collect tolls from those who float down it.
