Samson parades, Austria
Long-haired biblical hero Samson may have been granted superhuman strength to take on the Philistines, but even he would have been impressed by the feats performed during Austria's Samson parades. Twelve towns have their own 5-metre-tall figure of Samson and walk it through the streets in a ceremony that's centuries old. Each figure is carried by a single person, despite weighing over 75kg. You can see all 12 Samsons together at the parade in Unternberg on 17 August 2013.
