I just wish TripAdvisor and the media would shut up about the West Country.  Devon and Cornwall are already full enough of part-time londoners and their surfing brats, and consequently are less lovely than they used to be.

what about Scotland?! there are a lot of amazing beaches up here with no one on them, is it the weather, we've had better weather than england this year, I haven't seen ANY snow! or does no one want to go that far north?!

No, actually, it should read the best beaches in the SOUTH of England. But hey don't knock it - let's us northerners keep our secret bits of paradise to ourselves.

I notice that all the beaches are in the south. Is this because only southerners want to brag or is it the canny northeners wanting to keep their glorious beaches to themselves?

The writer/photographer obviously hasn't travelled beyond the South West (with the exception of Jersey). There are plenty of beaches outside this area which are just as good if not better (e.g. in the North Wales, the North East and particularly in the Outer Hebrides - Isles of Lewis/Harris which I consider to be the best in the UK). Maybe if an article is to be written on the best beaches in Britain, then the whole of Britain should be taken into consideration. A 'blinkered' article is the best way to describe it I believe.

Britain's best beaches,

Nice to see that the winner is the only one which doesn't show the beach...........

( unless its the opening picture which shows the huts)

It would have been nice to see why it had won.

Well done msn.

I think the title is misleading. It should read ; The top 10 best promoted beaches in Britain.

There... that's better.

Bridlington, East riding Yorkshire coast, miles of clean safe sandy beach, if you havnt been, come and have a weekend. safe seas for kids to play in and patroled extremely well by lifeguards, coastguard, and air sea rescue.  its a must for every family.

forgotten about the gower coast ?lots of great beaches down here!

This is quite ridiculous. Are these people too lazy to travel? I'd advise them to try a weekend away in the west coast of Scotland; Harris in particular. You'd struggle to find nicer beaches anywhere in the country.

How is the Gower not included in this, are you mad!?

I think everyone missed the small print.  It is Traveller's Choce Beaches and that could mean anything.  A beach that is well 'travelled' is most certainly not the cleanest.  I would imagine the best beaches would be the cleanest and therefore must be the most isolated and least popular.  Also, MSN if you are reading this, the apostrophe is in the wrong place, I think you mean Travellers' unless of course you are referring to one traveller in particular, and if that is the case then at least name that traveller. Sigh.

i have been all over britain , and seen some beautiful beaches, from the north of scotland to the south of england, the only thing to spoil a beach is the weather, and if it is sand or stones, my favourite is camber sands,  quite clean and not to commercialised, i used to like swanage until it got dirty and the locals really started to rip you off,
