Owned and run by the RSPB, the Arne Nature Reserve is situated on the eastern fringe of the mammoth Poole Harbour and overlooks many of the islands dotted within it. An area of open heath and oak woodland, it is a haven for everything from warblers and woodpeckers to owls and ospreys, and deer roam freely among the heather. My suggested walk to Shipstal Beach, a gorgeous sweep of sand that bleeds into the trees behind, takes you through some classic English woodland, past ponds that teem with frogs and newts, and to a hide from which you can watch the birdlife.

I agree with John McHiggins. It should be entitled SW England's best secret beaches. There are lovely secluded beaches all around the British coast from the Isle of Wight to the Shetlands.

msns so called expert has not listed any excellent beaches just the same old ones if you want unspoilt world class beaches  north norfolk has the best. p.s does your so called expert actually leave their office.

Can't call this Britains best secret beaches.  I am sure there are hidden gems in Wales, NI and Scotland, not to mention the E coast of England.

 

Please re-title as Devon and Cornwalls best secret beaches.

I know that Scotland is considering Independance in 2014 but meantime it is still part of Britain and therfore I cannot accept that Scotland doesn't have at least One Beach to be included in your so called best of Britain list................​
