Alternative to? St Lucia
Who goes there? Dominica isn't the usual beaches and cocktails Caribbean stereotype. It's a lusciously green, hugely mountainous country that attracts more walkers and adventure sports lovers than sun-worshippers.
See and do? Do the six-hour return hike to the Boiling Lake via fields of volcanic steam vents, then go tubing down the Layou River.
What's the deal? Seven nights in Dominica, including flights, for from £839 per person, from Q Holidays.
