good on him, boats like this, help expand the skills of boat building and although some may question where the money comes from, at lease we now where it is being spent and there are many highly skilled and exerianced people who need these jobs.  I only wish I could have similar.

They should have mentioned the Aurora, formerly named  Evviva,
161 ft long, with it's own helipad, motor launches and space for a car.  It was never made clear how the car would be useful or would get from the yacht to the shore. Never-the-less, there was a jeep on board.
The people who commissioned it had owned a sport boat business and had this made for their retirement.  They were cat lovers and had lots of tunnels for the cats to play in built into the structure of the boat. .
It was built in Port Townsend Washington USA , where I used to live and I watched it being launched.
The water in PT Bay is not very  deep and they damaged the bottom of it and it ran aground.
Funny and heartbreaking at the same time.
They allowed a certain number of people to go on board for a look, giving a couple of hours window and I went on. It is truly an amazing and beautiful vessel.

i lived in italy once and one day saw this in portafino my  mum was with us saw it and asked the captian if james bond was on board the captain just looked pulled out a remote from his rear pocket pushed a switch and the decking boards came out auto for them to come to shore thats the yanks for ya

I've been on cross channel ferries many hundreds of times in my work, and sailed from every English and French  cross channel ferryport along the English channel. Most Cross channel ferries are around 156mts with one or two being slightly larger and some being smaller. Abramovich's yacht at 164mts is bigger than most cross channel ferries. So, it would appear the correspondent had done his research!!
