The painter LS Lowry had a soft spot for Seaburn, which prides itself on its Blue Flag beach and the agreeably bustling promenade that lies behind it. Munch hot chips, lose a fortune in the penny arcades and don't forget to pick up the essential (but usually inedible) beach souvenir: a stick of rock.
