Alpamayo's peak bathed in sunlight

A 1966 survey and a 1996 global poll asked climbers to name their pick of the prettiest mountain peaks of all. Top of both lists was the snow-capped mountain Alpamayo, a graceful pyramidal peak located in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca range. Other contenders for the title included the Matterhorn in the Alps and Ama Dablam in the Himalayas.
