Another city that's hardly shy of Beatles links is Hamburg. The Beatlemania exhibition on the notorious Reeperbahn strip is in equal measure surreal and fascinating, but Hamburg's real draws are on the water. The Speicherstadt warehouse city is gargantuan and the port cruises somehow manage to make heavy industry look drenched in poetic beauty. Hamburg is primarily known as a party city, though, and the massive Hamburger Dom fair - one of the biggest in Europe - offers a less seedy alternative to the Reeperbahn this weekend.
