These islands have had their fair share of reports over the years, with one UFO even being snapped in 1996 over the Isle of Lewis. The remote location and nearby army bases have led some to think experimental military equipment testing is responsible rather than aliens.

However, just as Nessie made Loch Ness a destination for sea monster hunters so the Outer Hebrides are a beautiful place for UFO-spotters to descend upon in summer. The wildlife and the Scottish answer to Stonehenge - the Callanish - are worth a visit even if the ETs are a bit reticent.
