Where: Aqaba, Jordan
Trekkers are notorious for arguing about which of them is the ultimate fan, but King Abdullah of Jordan dwarfs even the most dedicated memorabilia collector with news that his pet project, a $1.5 billion Star Trek theme park, is going to be built. Funding has just been secured and work is underway, due for completion in 2014. Billed as being a mix of "Middle Eastern history and Star Trek", we can't wait to clap eyes on the 184-acre entertainment resort which promises a "state of the art space flight adventure." King Abdullah has impressive Trekker credentials: he also once starred as an extra on Star Trek: Voyager.

World's most beautiful beaches: do you agree?
I was going to ask why Gulliver World in Japan was not included but just read that it closed down a while back. That had to be the wierdest place I have ever visited. A big mock Gulliver on the slopes of Mt Fuji.
Now, how could you possibly have missed The Big Sheep? You want weird? How about live sheep races with cuddly toys strapped to them as their drivers? How about the fact that (as they proudly display on their publicity) they are apparently Europe's 51st Most Popular Theme Park?
And then, of course, we have Barometer World...you want geeky? Britain's Got Geeky....:)
I alwas thought Moomins were cows not hippos. 'Moo'mins. Makes sense to me anyway...
