'Having all this space and quiet is amazing'

Who? Rowena Carr-Allison, a writer originally from Oxfordshire
Big differences: "Because we live on top of a hill, the internet connection fries several times a year when thunder strikes. That drives us crazy, but having all this space and quiet is amazing. We can't get over it. Of course, I do miss friends, family, shopping, sushi and other things that we don't have here... "
Ardeche loves: "Having no neighbours, the peace and quiet are bliss. I also love the great food, the views from my house, and the fact that when we see friends it's in a relaxed way rather than at the pub between six and 8pm."
Favourite places: "While I can't possibly forget to buy the milk or it's another 40 minute drive, and my garden ends in the forest, I'm only two hours away from Paris by TGV. If I need a break from the countryside, there are few better places to go."
