'Everyone has a therapist'

Who? Guy Adams, LA correspondent for the Independent, originally from Monmouthshire
Big differences: "LA's professional sporting calendar revolves around a never-ending succession of baseball and basketball. You can get proper sushi, rather than the mass produced British approximation. Everyone has a therapist. And everybody, absolutely everybody, drives: the city has been designed so that you cannot get anywhere on foot."
LA loves: "I can walk to the beach from my house and go surfing before breakfast. Oh, and I'm quite a fan of the 'can do' attitude of locals."
Favourite places: "Santa Monica Pier is a genuine landmark on one of the world's finest urban beaches. The Getty Centre and Getty Villa marry fantastic art with incredible views, while the Malibu hills offer rural seclusion just five minutes' drive from my front door."
