Here in Britain, we like to think we brew the best beer in the world. And while we’re sure many a country would beg to differ, the 2009 World Beer Awards have recently helped to back up our claim.

An impressive 30% of all the winning beers hail from the UK, significantly more than the US and Japan – the runners up. The WBA’s announcement came just days before this August’s Great British Beer Festival at London's Olympia, where the Champion Beers of Britain were also named.

So which world-beating draughts have impressed the judges, and where can you sample them for yourselves? We track down Britain’s most prestigious pints and take a tour around their breweries.
