Water pump problem for Prius owners
Toyota has revealed a problem involving its Prius model
Toyota has run into another problem with one of its car models.
The potential problem affects the water pump on some Prius models which could cause the vehicle to lose power.
In this condition, the temperature of the coolant could become high and result in illumination of the malfunction indicator light.
Around 15,500 UK-registered models produced between August 2003 and May 2007 are affected.
Toyota said it is not a recall and the problem does not represent a safety risk, but it is initiating "a customer satisfaction campaign to replace the hybrid electric water pump on certain Prius vehicles".
The company said it had not received any reports of accidents or injuries from problems with the pump.
Toyota has had to recall millions of vehicles worldwide in recent months following a series of problems.
