Walkers' haven
Recently awarded the title of Britain's Favourite View in the ITV show of the same name, Wasdale campsite lies under England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. It is situated at the head of the beautiful Wastwater Lake, which is nearly three miles long and almost half a mile long - making Wasdale one of the few campsites in the world that offers such a remote and dramatic location for setting up camp.

Great list of English campsites. Not so sure if it represents Britain's best though, seeing as there isn't anything from; Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, all of which have beautiful countrysides.

Britain does not end at Hadrian's Wall.  MSN seems incapable of unbiased journalism, last I checked Britain included Scotland, Wales and England.

Britain?  You mean England?  MSN is obviously unaware of the other parts of the UK, which are just as, or even more beautiful than those featured. James McCready and Kenneth Jackson are both right in their comments, midges are awful here but stunning scenery more than makes up for that!!

Haha, really, lots of England is beautiful, Devon, Cornwall etc, however I could list 4 places in Scotland within two hours drive of glasgow that are stunning on a WORLD stage. Try to remember that there are other places in Britain NOT whthin the confines of England.

Good point on midges though, but worth the annoyance.

Another utterly rubbish offering from MSN--- in my opinion , beautiful campsites do not include  having a large mansion house/mill/priory as the main view/feature ; The whole point of camping is to take to the great outdoors and see natural landscapes and wildlife in a setting devoid of mans machinations ; Must also echo previous comments --- obviously there are no picturesque campsites in Scotland --- poor piece of journalism full stop

Not one of these places would come close to the top 11 destinations in Scotland.

 

Applecross, Black Ness, Glen Nevis, Glen Etive, Aviemore, Isle of Skye, The Cairngorms, Arisaig, Oban....will I continue?

MSN have really outdone themselves this time.  This has to be one of the poorest selection of camping sites out of our rich selection of locations.  Please change "... spots in Britain" to "... spots in England."  I dare you to camp under the shadow of Ben Nevis!!

Just back from Glen Nevis campsite at Fort William and it beats all of those sites hands down , lovely site .

Here we go again, its just like the Olympics, if a WELSHMAN wins an event its well done BRITAIN, if a SCOTSMAN wins an event its well done BRITAIN, IF AN ENGLISHMAN wins an event itsWELL done ENGLAND.

There are more things and places to see in the country than bombarding us with ENGLAND, MSN,

BRITAIN RULED THE WAVES, AND WON THE WAR, NOT, WHATS IT CALLED? OH YES WELL DONE ENGLAND.

FROM A PERSON WHO DOES NOT LIVE IN ENGLAND.

If this is the best of  'Britain' then I'm glad I'm Scottish. 'Britain' can keep their rolling meadows and lush green forests. Give me the wilderness of Rannoch Moor or the breath taking Glen Coe any day over these poor imitations of what the great outdoors is all about.

Sorry, forgot to mention that the first image does look suspiciously like Glen Nevis but there are no rolling meadows there, or perhaps they didn't know how to spell GLENS !

the opening pic is ben nevis from glen nevis campsite in glen nevis,fort william  if there is a better view to wake up to a will eat my tent and walking boots!

 During the Queen's,s diamond jubilee celebrations campers in Castle Ward camping  park e told to remove Union Flag bunting from there gazebo,so much for a National Trust property.

Sorry to be "rational" here but you'll see that the sites are from the "NATIONAL TRUST" not the "Scottish National Trust" which will explain why there are no Scottish camp sites. It does'nt explain why the Travel editor at MSN can't tell the difference between Britain and its contituent parts.
