Photographer David Clifford has captured the world's most dogged runners doing what they love in the most remote and unforgiving environments.
Berlin, Germany
Because of the booming German economy, people tend to imagine that Germany is more expensive than it is - but the country can be refreshingly light on the wallet. For example, the recent Hotels.com Hotel Price Index named Berlin as the cheapest city in the world for five-star hotel accommodation. Given the great mix of history, nightlife fantastic art scene, few places are this easy on the pocket.
Why 2012? Berlin's new Willy Brandt airport opens in June, and a number of airlines are beefing up their services. Lufthansa, for example, will be adding extra flights from Birmingham and Manchester.
