See our pick of the best gardens in England, Wales and Scotland.
Vienna, Austria
Okay, so Vienna tends to be much more expensive than the rest of Austria. But if you've felt priced out of going for the last few years, you may get a pleasant surprise when you return. Beyond the well-known wedding cake architecture, classical music and dancing horses, the city has a rather hip underground scene. Fans of odd attractions are also in luck - there are museums devoted to crime, globes, Esperanto and funerals, among other things.
Why 2012? The city is celebrating the 150th anniversary of artist Gustav Klimt's birth. There will be several exhibitions and fun events tacked on to this.
