Wieliczka salt mine, Poland

Located in the town of the same name, this Polish salt mine is one of the world's oldest. The mine reaches a depth of 327 metres (1073 feet) and is over 190 miles (300 km) long, although with a length of just 2.2 miles, the area open to the public amounts to just 9% of the mine's total length.

Today, it's also one of Poland's most popular tourist attractions, and is home to a chapel carved out of salt and a series of modern sculptures carved by contemporary artists, while the interior is lit by chandeliers carved out, you guessed it - salt.

I love the looks of the salt mines in Poland or the silver mines in Swedan as a possibility...
