Overlooking the Moray Firth, in Scotland, the Snow Goose provides a much needed distraction from a day spent searching for the Loch Ness monster. Tuck into a sharing platter of baked camembert, pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon, for those not in the know) and pâté or snuggle up with a dish from the winter-warmer menu.

Do not put your binoculars to rest just yet, though: dolphins and whales have been spotted in the rippling waters of the firth.
