Weymouth has rather an active seafront, what with kite championships, international volleyball competitions and Motocross races. It gently curves along Weymouth Bay, and shallow slopes are great for kiddies splashing about while adults can appreciate the fantastic views, where the Bay stretches right up to the Jurassic Coast.

An anonymous TripAdvisor user said: "I have been going to Weymouth with my family for 22 years and I can say we have never been disappointed. The place is family-friendly, clean and an ideal spot to see the rest of beautiful Dorset."

Former resident DJB Harlow added: "I loved the beach which has some of the best soft sand in the country."
