Heading west with public stops at Henley-on-Thames, Ascot Racecourse, Winchester Cathedral and Salisbury, the Olympic flame will be taken to Stonehenge at dawn.

Designated a World Heritage Site, and one of the most famous locations in the world, the ancient standing stones are believed to have been erected between 3000BC and 2000BC. Today, the mysterious circle attracts around 800,000 visitors each year and holds a special place in the heart of Druids and the spiritually minded, who converge on the area each summer solstice.

Guess Who - I couldn't have put it better myself. trust Britian to screw it all up and turn what should be a wonderful celebration of international co-operation into a badly planned embarrassment. A Badly planned embarrassment that we have to pay for despite the fact that it appears we can no longer afford to support the disabled or the NHS. Shame on everyone involved in this expensive farce. If Beckham et al wanted the Olympics held here so badly they should have had to pay for it, after all, they have more money than our government at the moment.

I usually enjoy watching the olympics...But, this year i'm not looking forward to them at all.

Where ever they've been held in the past we hear about all the wonderful things being planned for the opening ceremony and during the games. China rehearsed for 2 years ... anyone know what's happening at our opening ceremony ???

What do we hear about the 2012 games ?

Mostly negative things ie the debacle over buying tickets ....how  the London  transport system  will grind to a halt, so civil servants have been asked to work from home. Nice for them,  watch tv all day at our expense, how against our wishes we have been forced to let drug cheats represent GB,  etc etc etc

So, all I can say about the 2012 Olympics is ..... Roll on September !!!

Jim Rogers - Beckham is involved for the same reason he does anything, from get out of bed in the morning to putting on his trousers and appearing at the Olympics - because that pushy stick insect wife of his made him do it. He probably doesn't even know what the Olympics are, if it's not kicking a ball he doesn't get it.

Just my opinion obviously but it makes me so mad to see him and Boris swanning around in Athens picking up the torch to start off these games that no-one asked us if we wanted to pay for!

will the torch pass any of the inner city job centres, will it pass the queues in our hospitals,or parks where unemployed youths sit without a hope in hell of a job,I doubt it very much ! We are a country who is a knats whatsit from being the next Greece. Why do we paint a picture to the world that we are still "Great Britain" ? its over we are skint the last Labour government saw to that , buying votes and flooding this tiny Island with people who would put an "X" on the vote form and bribe them with the DHSS.The sooner we realise that the debt mountain left by Blair, yogi Brown and their working class puppet Pesscott has got to be paid, the better. The cushey little public sector jobs with the fat pensions must stop,Stop wasting OUR money on Human rights issues that are just laughable
and lastly Olympic games that the average working class person who will end up paying for it,really will not take an interest in!
avatar
And don't forget that although we normal working people are paying for the games the small percentage of us who might actually want to go (I'm guessing there must be SOMEONE out there who gives a ****?) can't afford tickets. The rich get a tax break so they aren't paying for the games but they are the only ones who can get to see them.

I am pissed off with hearing about the olympic's, thought we were nearly broke, but hay hang on,the government have implemented so many cut's, the police pensions nhs ect maybe that's how we can aford to stage the Olympics', to hell with the old and the needy of this country, we'll stage the olympic games who cares if the british people have to struggle us the priminister and his friends will be alright we earn so much money the cuts wont effect us.
THINK ABOUT IT.

BecKham, you are a limelight grabber, Sir Alex kicked you out cause of your pigheadedness and greed! Now you are paying your taxes and having your children educated and brought up as Yanks in Yankee Doodle Land....Just go back there and stay if that's what YOU DECIDED....LEAVE THE BRITISH OLYMPICS TO THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE, PAY TAXES AND DIE IN BRITAIN!!!

my question is,WHAT THE FCUK HAS BECKHAM GOT TO DO WITH THE OLYMPICS hes a washed up footballer not a olyimpian, so why is he there. its bad enough having that other slimeball the self appointed lord coe, who i believe is the only person in britain who wants these games

Lennie Smith.
we listened to our politicians, we picked who we thought were the best party to run our country, it is government who have pissed on the parade not the people so much, yes people in this country are greedy they do want a lot , but did you not listen when ore politician's one by one took a stand on the soap box and made promises and then as soon as they got into power pull the rug, I blame the government, we have people in this country living off hand out's,living in soup kitchen's. do you have a job do you have to think about what comes first paying to get back and forward work every day or eating that's what it has come to for a hell of a lot of people

what a waste of money the olypics , costs so far 9 BILLION , all police leave has been cancelled during th e olympics , all for a few atheletes trying to win a gold medal to increase there own salarys  !! .This  government is corrupt  as any other country in the world .

The government continues raising taxes on everything ,  but is able to  afford to spend so much money on this event. the only legacy the olypic games will create is DEBT , and it will be the general public who will have to foot the bill for this .

This event will not increase tourism in fact it will detour tourists from visiting as all prices will double in London  ie , hotels , flights , etc.

I believe the opening ceremony alone is costing  84 MILLION !!!!!

I will not be going to waste my time to watch  the "flame " being paraded around the country , as i have far better things to do ie , cut the grass , hoover the carpets ,watch my laundry going around in my washing machine , so much more interesting !!!!!!

perhaps i will just book a holiday as far away as possible and then return when it is all over .

the olympics is just a folly of the rich elites. the banks getting richer while the plebs jump through hoops for their amusement.

Now I reckon Colin Knox is a man with a very poor vocabulary. I bet his school didn't miss him !

By the way....don't go to St. Michael's Mount to see the torch as you will be disappointed !
