Those of us with kids will know that the school summer holiday period can be one of the most expensive to travel in, while those of us without them tend to put off travel for mid-peak months such as June and September. But new research from Fly.com has indicated that some places - for instance Milan, are actually cheaper to travel to from mid-July to August. We reveal the five cheapest places and also the five most expensive places to fly to during peak season for a short-haul break.

Since MSN can't be bothered to post even the slightest mention of the latest banking scam, let me make a comment here. When you have a banking system that is all about greed and oneupmanship, then you have a corrupt banking system. I am absolutely astonished however that criminal charges of fraud are not being brought against the originators and perpetrators of the latest schemes. Simply that this comes from the 'acceptable' face of offering loans to people and businesses rather that some grubby loan shark, does not necessarily make it correct or any different from the nefarious acts of a loan shark. The police, quite rightly, would come down heavily on any loan shark carrying out these financial practices. Why are the high street banks any different from these? This is beginning to sound like an old pals act to me with the top people in government not wanting to punish 'their own'. It is no good fining the banks, as only customers and shareholders are affected. Fine and, if necessary, jail those involved.

Financial instruments are scalpels for cutting money out of poor peoples pockets. If you are already rich you employ experts to make sure that you are not robbed and the wealth that you have accumulated is protected and taxed at the lowest possible rate.  Camoron says we are all in it together, he must be talking about the rich. The poor have to pay their taxes, if they are fortunate enough to have a job that places them in a tax bracket.PAYE

Alright Terry try this one. How about the former monastery at Boltana set in the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. Now an absolutely gorgeous hotel. I stayed there for a long weekend costing me just 40 euros a night for B&B in a suite which had two double beds in it (I was on my own) with a btahroom to die for with not only the usual toiletries but tootpaste and brush and comb as well.. Just remember, Terry, that it was the greedy banks and the former government that got us all into this financial mess in the first place. While I'm have a winge, how about you doing some revision on your spelling and typing skills. Forwaqrd, orr, and feeelings come to mind. See I am being constructive, Terry!

I really don't care if its in school hols, i always holiday when the kids are in school, then i don't have to listen to bad parenting , and letting their spoilt little darlings run around causing mayhem, if you want holidays that aren't expensive then hire a nanny that looks after them when you go away, or don't even bother having them, but stop the hell whingeing, or better still get a timeshare and go when you want we managed ok with our kids, why cant you?

We went there years ago; had a brilliant time. Stayed on the outskirts of Laganos (self catering with locally owned family)  only  1 star rating at the time, but best holiday we've had in a long time.
Would love to go back one day.
Charles.

we went to zante (alykes.... a bit slower paced than places like laganas etc) through first choice about 4 years ago... they didnt even have a photo of the hotel and it was dead cheap (i think it was about £350 for 2 weeks self catering).

was alright though - the hotel looked like many of the others around there, the facilities weren't tip top (the bed broke, and the TINY kitchenette worktop had melted... other stuff... but then we were out most of the time and we slept on the mattress on the floor, so it wasn't the end of the world.

lovely island though; the OH only ever wants to relax and it's ideal for that.  me, i like to see the culture and always be doing something, and i didn't feel let down on that score either.

Another three British swaddies bite the dust in Afghanistan because Willam Hague is too dumb to bring our troops home, out of there. It is not his war to fight. He could easily save British lives and Blame Tory Blur. The Afghanis want us there so much they are prepared to kill our troops, Even the so called Boss Karsai,is tellling us we cant get away with shooting Afghanis.

Looks like a holiday abroad is needed. Our British weather is a bit cold and wet this summer. Have found some great deals on HolidayIGo.co.uk
