Dispel the gloom of the bleak winter months with a bright dose of colour. Take a look at the shortlist of the first World Architecture News (WAN) Colour in Architecture awards and, fear not, you won't have to travel very far to see the overall winner.

A'Beckett Tower, Melbourne, Australia
Architect: Elenberg Fraser
The architects of this striking apartment block were inspired by writer Goethe's Theory of Colours, which is all about "sensations of the eye". There are 347 black-framed sunshade louvres in 16 colours.
