With cartoons and crayons coming pretty much as standard, the airlines that excel go even further to keep the mini traveller entertained. Qantas offers 'family zones' on the ground (pictured), complete with toys, iMac computers and books to keep kids entertained before take-off.
Take another look inside that Virgin America Jet Set Kid Pack and you'll find dinky dolphin-shaped headphones, perfect for little ones who want to play video games and watch one of the many TV shows on the Disney and Nickelodeon channels.
If the idea of being surrounded by kids fills you with dread, Malaysia Airlines has reserved the upper deck of its new A380 economy cabin for adults only - for those who want to enjoy a kid-free zone.

I don't know what you people are on about......... Surely the best airline around is Ryanair.
They have such an easy booking process and never try to trip you up, or get you to pay for things you don't want. Their charges are transparent and they never invent costs for taxes you've never heard of.
Their staff are so friendly and so very understanding, showing you how to save money with your trip.
And to cap it all, their aircraft are state of the art: huge luxurious seats; and they are going to cut down on those pesky toilets which slow the flight down.
Breaking news!!!! I've just heard that his eminence O'Leary has introduced another first in cost savings for the traveller....10% reduction for anyone who holds their breath for the entire flight!

I recently flew to America on Virgin Airlines because they have a reputation for being one of the best - the journey out was excellent - good food, entertainment and helpful cabin crew. The journey back was awful - I think it was because it was a night flight - the plane was old and uncomfortable, the entertainment minimal and the food was dismal - (we had a biscuit for breakfast), the cabin crew just wanted everyone to sleep! My friends and I will rethink our next carrier carefully........

My main gripe is kids on 'planes.
Bad enough if they are a few rows away but if they are on the row behind, kicking the back of the seat in front, it's an absolute nightmare. Happened to me a couple of times, yet when I nicely asked the parents to stop their kids kicking I was told I was a bully, to be nice, be kind, be patient etc.
Anyone know of any airlines that ban kids? Please let me know.

Being as i am 6ft 3 i think it is deplorable to penalise me for being too tall, in order to have a comfortable flight i have to buy, yes buy a seat with extra leg room, I certainly don't like or appreciate airlines who have narrower seating, that make the flight even less comfortable, there should be laws against that sort of thing.

AVOID IBERIA.......ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BRAZILIAN. I flew with them afew years ago. They made a mess with my connection flight, then they wanted me to go via USA (and i had to point out to them that i do not have a transit visa, imagine me having to tell them how to do their job). I wanted to get something from my luggage as i being sent to a hotel and they told me that they did not know where my luggage was (yet i could see it in the office immediately behind the person who was dealing with my problem: should i have contacted the police?). eventually they put me on a horrible charter flight which would have cost way less than whoat i paid to fly with them: an old plane, with sandwiches for a meal. In short: thirty hours later i arrived at my destination: 30 hours late!. At least though they were kind enough to say that 'they had found my luggage'.

Cathay Pacific.. is one air line i never did try yet.... amazing really, i was taking 70 fights a year..... I will try :). i never did go to Hongkong before or China..
I drive around Euro these days... No more easy jet if i can help it...
last fight i took with easy jet, my bag HANDLE was 1 cm too long, £40 mugging..
since then many trips to spain and swiss.. Drive :).. no baggage problems,
and no security problems either.. always on time, and no need to listen to that easy jet staff, who all need take a good lesson in manners.
try driving >> you will be surprised how good is it... if you have a bit of extra time..

just thinking on.. I have only ever missed 2 flights,, Both out of Stanstead, both Ryanair,
and i needed to pay again.. thats not really fair in my opinion.
why not just put you on the next flight.... NO NO , Ryanair can pick your pockets again.
Not a good way to do business in my opinion...

Twice I have been long haul on KLM on both occasions despite booking 4 months in advance and requesting a bulkhead seat I wsa placed in the middle of everyone . you may think - so what? However I am disabled and have to be lifted into the plane by a fork lift truck arrangement ( no complaints there ,good service and very friendly) , But when on the plane and my crutches are put in the baggage lockers I am stuck .I cannot move even on an end seat for the toilet ( OK on short haul ). The seats I requested - they were given to children.I am due to fly out again in the spring and I really must consider my options
