Stroke a dinosaur
Zigong City in the Chinese province of Sichuan isn't the easiest place to get to from the UK. But one very cool museum makes it an enticing trip. The city has more than 40 sites rich in mid-Jurassic fossils, and the Zigong Dinosaur Museum is built on the largest cache yet discovered.
More than a hundred dinosaurs have been excavated here, many rare and exceptionally well preserved. As well as admiring their reconstructed skeletons and watching excavations in progress, you can also stroll around the larger dinosaur graveyard, where unnumbered bones simply stick out of the earth, waiting to be dug up. But best of all is an underground chamber in which visitors can cop a feel of the 160-million-year-old fossils for themselves.
