As travellers who see more than our fair share of evil-smelling holes in the ground, we know the value of a decent bathroom. And you'd be surprised just how fancy they come. Take the fully functional 24-carat gold toilets at Hong Kong's Swisshorn Gold Palace. Or the still more lovely public washrooms in Wisconsin's John Michael Kohler Arts Centre, which were designed by American artists. Our favourite is Ann Agee Sheboygan's exquisite delft-tiled design.
