The mandarinfish is one of the most vibrant fish known to man, and our pick for the prettiest. These small saltwater fish, also known as Mandarin dragonet, usually grow to little more than six inches and hide out in the shallow reefs and lagoons of the Pacific between the East China Sea and northern Australia. Unsurprisingly, these exquisite little creatures, with their squeezed together name, are one of the world's most sought-after subjects of underwater photography.
