There's no disputing that this is one of the world's most elaborate clocks, and in our book it's quite possibly the prettiest too. The Rathaus-Glockenspiel of Munich, found in the Marienplatz, is a century-old mechanised clock with no less than 43 bells and 32 life-sized figures. The clockwork models spring into life for 15 minutes at 11am, when they re-enact two stories of 16th century Munich: the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V, including a joust scene, and then the coopers' dance that celebrated the end of a plague.
