Clarence Hotel
Where? Dublin, Ireland
Celebrity owners: Bono and The Edge from U2
Despite buying the Clarence hotel, Bono and The Edge apparently still hadn't found what they were looking for when it comes to hospitality perfection. They've upgraded the former B&B over the years, but the U2 duo have caused uproar with their plans to completely tear down the Art Deco building and replace it with something altogether more futuristic.
The plans for the new building - which looks rather more like a spaceship than a hotel - will make it completely out of place with its surroundings. Many opponents of the scheme are outraged that it has been given planning permission.
