The moment your feet sink into Mombasa's soft white sandy beach, you will be hooked for life. Despite its ups and downs with tourism in the last few years, Kenya is still one of our favourite go-to places for R and R, safaris and exploring the delights of the Great Rift Valley. It is one of the 10th cheapest places for long-haul travel in the survey, and on average wine costs £2.50 a glass.

why sit for hours on a plane on end when Winter Sun is only three hours away from the UK.
Daytime temperatures in 'Marrakech' can reach the high 20s'. Granted the evenings can be a little cool and you'll need a jacket at night but the winters here are perfect with very little rain.

Don't waste precious time on long haul flights - try Gambia.  Only six hours from the UK and a choice of 5star luxury or budget bases to suit all pockets.  Winter time is the best time to go, temperatures in the low to mid 80's with guaranteed sun every day, friendly locals, and a good choice of places to eat and drink.  OK so there are no safaris or big game to chase, but it is a bird watchers or fishermans paradise, and brilliant for those who just want to laze in the sun.  Just enough culture and things to do to keep you occupied for a couple of weeks, go with an open mind and a smile on your face and you will love it.  Oh yes, I probably am biased as I am now married to a Gambian, but I have loved it since the first time I went in 2001 - must be on my 20th trip by now!

I think there should be a decimal point in there - £1.60 would be more accurate.  I am a South African now living in the UK and when my husband and I visited Joburg earlier this year bought a 6 pack of lager for R85 which, at a conservative exchange rate, would be approx £8.  Pork scratchings for £35 - no way!  Someone has their facts skew.

To be called a fool by someone who dosnt know me is laughable i did not ask to go to costa del sol it was paid for as my partners family took me as i needed a break.

it wasn't nice it was tacky but spain doesn't appeal to me full stop

and when i was in cancun i spent a week up in the mountains where all the poorest people of the town live in metal huts i cooked for them i helped out with there children and gave them money to try to improve there life a little bit yes granted it wasn't enough but it was the best i could do so before you comment on someone's post try and engage brain before gob
