These buildings are absolutely stunning. Definitely adding them to my list of places to see. Glad some are hotels, so maybe one day, instead of just seeing them, I can stay in them =)

Today's outstanding examples of architecture are certainly an improvement over standards which existed in, say, the 1960's to 1980's, perhaps because of the willingness to use more diverse materials. However, despite the fine examples shown, the 'main run' of buildings design today still slavishly follows cliches and trends. For instance, in residential redevelopment (an increasingly relevant urban aspect), the fact that economics have almost guaranteed that any sizeable site is under the control of one developer, we are presented with uniform 'estates' in which all properties are merely clones of each other. In previous times of initial residential development, it was carried out in much more of a piecemeal nature, with builders developing the number of properties for which they could afford the sites, and for which they had the prospect of buyers. Perhaps not so aesthetically appealing in theory, but it worked by providing the rich mix of properties in our cities, towns and villages. Redevelopment is an aspect of planning and government input which urgently needs a re-think as it is becoming a very much more important part of life in our cities, towns and villages. The disposal of compulsorily acquired land in particular must be more intelligently accomplished without solely economic consideration.

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Surely that should be listed?? 3 towers with a massive 'boat' on top featuring a massive infinity pool! Google it, it's amazing.

Wow, some crazy designs there, but I really like the Chinese dragon building. I think that's very creative.

It seems like the town ("Elciego"="Theblindone") was named after the architect of the Hotel Marques de Riscal! What was he thinking? What were the Spaniards who actually went ahead and built his design thinking?

Same old crap wrapped up in silver foil.
