Nervous fliers, you may not need that large glass of wine after all, as we reveal the top 10 airlines for a safe flight
The new list revealing the world's safest airlines - compiled by the Airport Transport Rating Agency (ATRA) - may not entirely convert those of a twitchy disposition, but it should go some way towards allaying some fears. The highly rated agency analysed 44 carriers in the world, and judged them on 15 criteria, which included how old aircraft were and the number of cabin crew. The airlines are listed in alphabetical order - not according to safety.
Air France KLM
Air France and KLM merged in 2009, but they still operate as separate airlines. Air France has a huge global destination map, and you can fly from 21 UK airports with the airline. Royal Dutch Airlines, or KLM, also services a lot of Europe, as well as places such as Rio de Janeiro and San Francisco, from a whopping 26 airports in Britain.
